Kids in Action!

Posted in: Life with Lauren

Lauren and her intervenor Maria have enjoyed many awesome days at Kids In Action the last couple of weeks. The staff has been fantastic at helping make activites appropriate for Lauren. Since most of the day is jumping, swinging, running, bouncing…Lauren is in her glory! She has enjoyed her time there so much that we signed her up for Gymnastics class this fall. Can’t wait to see her bounce & tumble every Wednesday evening! Thanks to Kids In Action for opening the doors to everyone!

Thank you Kingwood - Love, Lauren

THANK YOU KINGWOOD! Paul and I wanted to share our gratitude with everyone here in Kingwood who have reached out to our family. From the vacation bible schools to the businesses and fellow families, Kingwood has opened up their hearts to our entire family. Most especially, Kingwood United Methodist Church. Their fellowship has provided support in ways we didn’t even know we needed or could ask others for help with. After looking at many options we decided having Lauren’s Thank You Mobile in the 4th of July parade was the best way we could show the greatest number of people how much their support means to us. I drove the car and I can honestly say that I teared up many times when people yelled “Go Lauren” and called out in support. What an amazing community we live in. Thank you all!

Signing in the Sand - Beach Trip with Lauren

Posted in: Life with Lauren

June 2008

Great grandma Kupstas started our summer off with a BANG! She took our whole family to Myrtle Beach, SC for a week off. What a wonderful adventure!
Due to generous donors we were able to afford having Lindsey come down from Canada to work with Lauren in the strange and exciting environment. Lauren learned so much! She was on the beach, in the ocean, the pool, children’s museum, pet a live monkey and tiger but by far her favorite was the bungee jump! Yes, even though my heart was beating out of my chest we allowed her to be strapped in to a bungee jump and go flying through the air from a trampoline! She adored it!! She signed “MORE!” It was amazing to see her HUGE smiles and I know we would not have been brave enough if our intervenor, Lindsey, wasn’t there to support Lauren and explain what was happening. Lauren was completely excited and we even went back for a second day! Once again, we experienced how the world opens up for Lauren with an intervenor by her side.
